Home Based Personal Care Assistant (HBPCA)
Provide compassionate care in home settings, helping clients maintain comfort, function, wellbeing, and dignity. Focus areas include therapeutic, rehabilitative, long-term maintenance, and palliative care.
- Therapeutic work (to improve health)

These tasks require time, commitment, and often longer-term relationships with clients/patients.
- Minimum NQF Level 1
- ABET Level 4
- Grade 9, 10, or 11 (no specific subjects required)
Full-time: 6 months (Mon–Fri)
Part-time: 9 months (Sat classes)
Intakes: February, June, October
National exams are written in June/July and October/November. Successful learners are awarded the Occupational Certificate: Home Based Personal Care Assistant by QCTO.
